Focusing on the Portuguese publishing landscape, it analyzes three volumes that exemplify this subgenre published by Planeta Tangerina. Despite their limited critical recognition, art activity books establish a unique relationship with readers, inviting active participation and intervention, while introducing specific knowledge about artistic elements and conventions. The research explores how these publications encourage both cognitive and physical engagement through different activities. By investigating the interactive processes inherent in these works, this study highlights their primary objective of fostering creativity and artistic expression, thus bringing readers closer to the world of visual arts. It argues that art activity books represent an innovative trend in the nonfiction context, challenging traditional notions of reader-ship and authorship.
