Because it appears in a variety of discourse contexts, its use and translation into English can be difficult to immediately discern. This study analyzes 84 occurrences of the word in natural language use in social media posts and during conversations from November 2022 to January 2023. We identify five distinct uses of wesh as a discourse marker in French, along with one substantive use. Finally, we propose an updated dictionary entry and provide pedagogical suggestions for instructors.
