In die Regelungstheorie und Regelungstechnik fanden diese Methoden Eingang, als es gelang, durch sie Fragen betreffend Beobachtbarkeit, Erreichbarkeit, Eingangs\/Zustands Linearisierbarkeit f\u00fcr nichtlineare Systeme erfolgreich zu beantworten. Der Schl\u00fcssel dazu war die Konstruktion von speziellen Koordinatensystemen, die diese Eigenschaften einfach sichtbar machten.
