However, most of this data is not\nanalyzed in order to reduce energy consumption and improve occupants' comforts. This is often due to the required large\nmanual effort for integrating the data into analytic systems. Semantic models allow to model the required meta-data and to\narrive at an automated integration process. This is demonstrated for the new Brick ontology, that comprehensively models\nmeta-data in buildings. It is extended by model concepts enabling to address challenges pertaining to physics and thermal\ncomfort. Moreover, this Brick ontology is further extended by reasoning approaches in order to better exploit\nknowledge. As an example, the proposed approach is used to compute and diagnose virtual sensors so as to assess thermal\ncomfort in a real building.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1515\/auto-2017-0038","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2017,9,9]],"date-time":"2017-09-09T10:01:19Z","timestamp":1504951279000},"page":"620-629","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Extending Brick for automated comfort diagnosis"],"prefix":"10.1515","volume":"65","author":[{"given":"Joern","family":"Ploennigs","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"IBM Research \u2013 Ireland, Damastown Ind.
