In this paper we propose an evolutionary feature selection technique based on the two-criterion optimization model. To diminish the drawbacks of genetic algorithms, which are applied as optimizers, we design a parallel multicriteria heuristic procedure based on an island model. The performance of the proposed approach was investigated on the Speech-based Emotion Recognition Problem, which reflects one of the most essential points in the sphere of human-machine communications. A number of multilingual corpora (German, English and Japanese) were involved in the experiments. According to the results obtained, a high level of emotion recognition was achieved (up to a 12.97% relative improvement compared with the best F-score value on the full set of attributes).<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1515\/jaiscr-2016-0018","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2016,8,10]],"date-time":"2016-08-10T09:56:23Z","timestamp":1470822983000},"page":"243-253","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":18,"title":["Multi-Objective Heuristic Feature Selection for Speech-Based Multilingual Emotion Recognition"],"prefix":"10.1515","volume":"6","author":[{"given":"Christina","family":"Brester","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Institute of Computer Science and Telecommunications, Reshetnev Siberian State Aerospace University, Krasnoyarsky rabochy Av. 31, 660037, Krasnoyarsk, Russian Federation"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Eugene","family":"Semenkin","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Institute of Computer Science and Telecommunications, Reshetnev Siberian State Aerospace University, Krasnoyarsky rabochy Av. 31, 660037, Krasnoyarsk, Russian Federation"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Maxim","family":"Sidorov","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Institute of Communications Engineering, Ulm University, Albert Einstein-Allee 43, 89081, Ulm, Germany"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"374","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2016,8,10]]},"container-title":["Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Soft Computing Research"],"original-title":[],"language":"en","link":[{"URL":"http:\/\/content.sciendo.com\/view\/journals\/jaiscr\/6\/4\/article-p243.xml","content-type":"text\/html","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"text-mining"},{"URL":"https:\/\/www.sciendo.com\/article\/10.1515\/jaiscr-2016-0018","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2021,4,7]],"date-time":"2021-04-07T04:41:12Z","timestamp":1617770472000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.sciendo.com\/article\/10.1515\/jaiscr-2016-0018"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2016,8,10]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"4","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2016,8,10]]},"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2016,10,1]]}},"alternative-id":["10.1515\/jaiscr-2016-0018"],"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1515\/jaiscr-2016-0018","relation":{},"ISSN":["2083-2567"],"issn-type":[{"value":"2083-2567","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2016,8,10]]}}}
