In general, a tabique building component\nas a wall consist of a wooden structure made up of\nvertical boards connected to laths by metal nails and covered\non both sides by an earth based material. This traditional\nbuilding technology as an expressive incidence\nin the Alto Douro Wine Region located in the interior of\nNorthern Portugal, added to the UNESCO\u2019s Word Heritage\nSites List in December 2001 as an \u2018evolved continuing cultural\nlandscape\u2019. Furthermore, previous research works\nhave shown that the existing tabique construction, in this\nregion, reveals a certain lack of maintenance partially justified\nby the knowledge loosed on that technique, consequently\nthis construction technique present an advanced\nstage of deterioration.
