This problem\nis not an exception in Portugal, where the few remaining\nexamples have been neglected, with the disappearance or\nabandonment of almost all buildings, damaging architectural\nand urban spatial features. This legacy is rapidly disappearing,\nweakening the European cultural map.\nThis research presents the results from a smart evaluation\nmethod using an ICT (information and communication\ntechnology) platform designed for the smart evaluation of\nwooden stilt-houses, considering their conservation status.\nThis platform was used in the five remaining stilthouse\nvillages still existing in Portugal including about 90\nbuildings and 300 inhabitants, located along Tagus river\nbanks. This article refers to one of these case studies, the\nvillage of Escaroupim, which was chosen because it is the\nmost urban space in between all of them.\nOn one hand, the results are an exhaustive survey of vernacular\nbuildings, useful as guideline for spatial strategies\nand instruments to protect this legacy.
