It performs quinol:cytochrome <jats:italic>c<\/jats:italic> oxidoreductase activity, being functionally equivalent to the <jats:italic>bc<\/jats:italic><jats:sub>1<\/jats:sub> complex but structurally unrelated. In this work we further explored ACIII investigating the role of its monoheme cytochrome <jats:italic>c<\/jats:italic> subunit (ActE).
