Per\u00fa"],"abstract":"<jats:p>El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo la caracterizaci\u00f3n de la crianza de cuyes en tres provincias de la Regi\u00f3n Cajamarca, Per\u00fa. Se aplic\u00f3 una encuesta estructurada a 1231 productores (401 de Cajamarca, 360 de San Marcos y 470 de Cajabamba). El sistema de producci\u00f3n predominante es el familiar-comercial (67% de productores). La raza Per\u00fa es la preferida por los productores, utilizando mayormente el sistema de crianza en pozas. La mayor\u00eda de los productores posee menos de 49 cuyes con un \u00e1rea de terreno entre 0.5 a 5 ha., siendo la alfalfa (Medicago sativa) el forraje m\u00e1s utilizado en la alimentaci\u00f3n de los cuyes. M\u00e1s del 80% de productores no reciben asistencia t\u00e9cnica y m\u00e1s del 87% no forman parte de alguna asociaci\u00f3n de criadores. En la caracterizaci\u00f3n sanitaria, entre 1 y 5 cuyes mueren por semana y por productor, especialmente en la clase lactantes.
