Bras. Gest. Urbana"],"abstract":"<jats:p>Resumo O presente artigo tem dois objetivos. Primeiro, tra\u00e7a um panorama inicial da pesquisa sobre forma urbana no Brasil e no Rio de Janeiro. Para tanto, discute algumas caracter\u00edsticas das abordagens desenvolvidas nesse contexto bem como sinaliza possibilidades para o campo, incluindo expans\u00f5es conceituais e metodol\u00f3gicas capazes de reconhecer as conex\u00f5es entre forma urbana, cogni\u00e7\u00e3o e din\u00e2micas sociais. Segundo, ilustra essas possibilidades com uma nova abordagem sobre a forma urbana como \u201cinforma\u00e7\u00e3o\u201d. A abordagem explora os modos como preservamos informa\u00e7\u00e3o no ambiente f\u00edsico e sem\u00e2ntico das cidades e como usamos essa informa\u00e7\u00e3o ambiental para atuar e tomar decis\u00f5es sobre a\u00e7\u00f5es e intera\u00e7\u00f5es a realizar. Para entender o papel da informa\u00e7\u00e3o ambiental na a\u00e7\u00e3o e coopera\u00e7\u00e3o social, a abordagem re\u00fane modelos computacionais de cidades e comportamentos bem como medidas de informa\u00e7\u00e3o e entropia latentes nas estruturas f\u00edsicas e sem\u00e2nticas das cidades. Esses m\u00e9todos permitem examinar cidades com grande grau de detalhe e interpretar diferen\u00e7as entre ambientes urbanos como \u201cassinaturas de informa\u00e7\u00e3o\u201d potencialmente consistentes com diferentes culturas espaciais.
