O artigo come\u00e7a por contextualizar o debate sobre a sub-representa\u00e7\u00e3o de mulheres nos conselhos de administra\u00e7\u00e3o e sobre o novo marco de pol\u00edticas com efeito vinculativo, introduzido em v\u00e1rios pa\u00edses da Uni\u00e3o Europeia (UE) e em Portugal. Examina, em seguida, os dados relativos \u00e0 representa\u00e7\u00e3o de homens e mulheres nos conselhos de administra\u00e7\u00e3o das empresas cotadas em bolsa. Conclui-se que a introdu\u00e7\u00e3o desta medida legislativa de natureza vinculativa em Portugal acelerou o movimento em dire\u00e7\u00e3o a uma maior representa\u00e7\u00e3o das mulheres nos conselhos de administra\u00e7\u00e3o das empresas cotadas em bolsa, representando um novo impulso ao progresso neste dom\u00ednio, por\u00e9m lento, gerado pelos anteriores incentivos que visaram estimular a a\u00e7\u00e3o volunt\u00e1ria por parte das pr\u00f3prias empresas e promover medidas de autorregula\u00e7\u00e3o.
