Pesqui."],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2011,8]]},"abstract":"<jats:p>O prop\u00f3sito principal deste artigo \u00e9 analisar como os acad\u00eamicos portugueses est\u00e3o lidando com as novas condi\u00e7\u00f5es de produ\u00e7\u00e3o de conhecimento cient\u00edfico ligadas \u00e0 emerg\u00eancia da sociedade\/economia do conhecimento e \u00e0 crescente mercantiliza\u00e7\u00e3o e \"manageriza\u00e7\u00e3o\" da educa\u00e7\u00e3o superior. Os desafios profissionais institu\u00eddos por essas novas condi\u00e7\u00f5es podem erodir a autonomia e liberdade dos acad\u00eamicos, constru\u00eddas gra\u00e7as ao conhecimento cient\u00edfico e \u00e0 colegialidade. De acordo com os resultados de uma pesquisa internacional na qual se apoia a componente emp\u00edrica deste artigo, a maioria dos acad\u00eamicos ouvidos continua vinculada aos princ\u00edpios humboldtianos\/mertonianos de produ\u00e7\u00e3o do conhecimento, como base de refer\u00eancia do profissionalismo acad\u00eamico. Contudo, os acad\u00eamicos assumiram, igualmente, posi\u00e7\u00f5es h\u00edbridas em rela\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 categoriza\u00e7\u00e3o epistemol\u00f3gica da pesquisa cient\u00edfica, \u00e0 articula\u00e7\u00e3o entre a pesquisa e ensino e \u00e0 filia\u00e7\u00e3o disciplinar, departamental e
