O conhecimento do desempenho dos modelos e dos erros sistem\u00e1ticos a eles associados, \u00e9 de suma import\u00e2ncia, pois permite avaliar a capacidade dos mesmos em captar os processos f\u00edsicos da atmosfera. Com intuito de melhorar a qualidade da previs\u00e3o de tempo na Am\u00e9rica do Sul, disponibilizada no Centro de Previs\u00e3o de Tempo e Estudos Clim\u00e1ticos (CPTEC), este trabalho avaliou as previs\u00f5es de precipita\u00e7\u00e3o e press\u00e3o ao n\u00edvel m\u00e9dio do mar para o prazo de at\u00e9 120 horas, utilizando o erro m\u00e9dio (EM) e a raiz do erro m\u00e9dio quadr\u00e1tico (REMQ) no per\u00edodo de dezembro de 2007 a fevereiro de 2008. O modelo utilizado foi o ETA (40 km), com duas entradas distintas de dados, as an\u00e1lises do Physical-space Statistical Analysis System (PSAS) (ETA-I) e do National Centers for Environmental Predictions (NCEP) (ETA-II). Os resultados mostraram, para ambas as an\u00e1lises, uma tend\u00eancia de superestimativa (valores positivos do erro m\u00e9dio) da precipita\u00e7\u00e3o sobre a Regi\u00e3o Norte do Brasil, principalmente para 24 horas de previs\u00e3o.
