Argumento, neste artigo, que a constru\u00e7\u00e3o complexa da identidade e a an\u00e1lise de diversas abordagens, por vezes, contradit\u00f3rias, dos estudos curriculares s\u00e3o desafios que necessitam de ser debatidos criticamente. Inclui-se, ainda, uma breve refer\u00eancia \u00e0s tradi\u00e7\u00f5es curriculares e aos desafios metodol\u00f3gicos centrados na pesquisa curricular, em Portugal.
