Infant."],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2001,12]]},"abstract":"<jats:p>OBJETIVOS: determinar, em escolares portugueses de oito a 16 anos (256 do sexo masculino e 268 do sexo feminino): os padr\u00f5es de mudan\u00e7as na composi\u00e7\u00e3o corporal e no VO2m\u00e1x; a rela\u00e7\u00e3o entre o percentual de massa gorda (%MG), \u00edndice de massa corporal (IMC) e o somat\u00f3rio de dobras de adiposidade subcut\u00e2nea (SSKF) com o VO2m\u00e1x; a percentagem de obesos. M\u00c9TODOS: o percentual de massa gorda foi estimado do SSKF (subescapular e tricipital). A amostra foi subdividida em est\u00e1gios maturacionais de Tanner. A aptid\u00e3o cardiorrespirat\u00f3ria foi avaliada atrav\u00e9s do teste Shutlle-run de 20 metros. RESULTADOS: as vari\u00e1veis antropom\u00e9tricas e o percentual de massa gorda estiveram de acordo com dados j\u00e1 publicados. Os rapazes apresentaram VO2m\u00e1x mais elevado (p &lt; 0,05) do que as mo\u00e7as na maioria dos est\u00e1gios. Correla\u00e7\u00f5es negativas, moderadas e significativas (p &lt; 0,05) entre o percentual de massa gorda o VO2m\u00e1x foram obtidas em ambos os sexos, em todos os est\u00e1gios. Na an\u00e1lise dos tr\u00eas indicadores de obesidade (IMC, %MG e SSKF), 11,2% dos rapazes e 14,3% das mo\u00e7as apresentaram valores acima dos padr\u00f5es normativos. CONCLUSES: padr\u00f5es normais de crescimento foram verificados em ambos os sexos. Crian\u00e7as que apresentaram menor VO2m\u00e1x tamb\u00e9m apresentaram maior percentual de massa gorda. Ambos os sexos apresentaram valores sugerindo excesso de gordura corporal no in\u00edcio da
