Pesqui."],"abstract":"<jats:p>Resumo Este artigo parte da sociologia da educa\u00e7\u00e3o para documentar e teorizar dimens\u00f5es sociais, culturais e pol\u00edticas da educa\u00e7\u00e3o de jovens adultos da elite econ\u00f4mica em uma escola privada, que foi criada em rea\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 educa\u00e7\u00e3o em massa e como forma de garantir \u00e0s elites a distin\u00e7\u00e3o anteriormente fornecida pelo acesso em exclusivo \u00e0 educa\u00e7\u00e3o p\u00fablica. O artigo traz \u00e0 cola\u00e7\u00e3o contextos e consequ\u00eancias associadas \u00e0 ascens\u00e3o da privatiza\u00e7\u00e3o, com base em uma incurs\u00e3o etnogr\u00e1fica durante mais de dez anos em uma escola privada no Norte de Portugal, complementada por grupos focais com jovens adultos no ensino secund\u00e1rio. Destacam-se as formas como esse grupo de elite econ\u00f4mica constr\u00f3i os seus la\u00e7os sociais e significados no interior da escola. Admite-se que a educa\u00e7\u00e3o privada molda e refor\u00e7a o status das elites econ\u00f4micas. Entretanto, tens\u00f5es entre desigualdade e privil\u00e9gio podem surgir no decurso desse processo. Argumentamos que se h\u00e1 uma a\u00e7\u00e3o individual na interpreta\u00e7\u00e3o e constru\u00e7\u00e3o da realidade social, essa escola tem um impacto especial nos estudantes, como membros da elite global.
