Existing multi-agent approaches often rely on fixed roles or shallow interaction prompts, limiting their ability to detect and resolve fine-grained logical inconsistencies. To address this, we propose MedLA, a logic-driven multi-agent framework built on large language models. Each agent organizes its reasoning process into an explicit logical tree based on syllogistic triads (major premise, minor premise, and conclusion), enabling transparent inference and premise-level alignment. Agents engage in a multi-round, graph-guided discussion to compare and iteratively refine their logic trees, achieving consensus through error correction and contradiction resolution. We demonstrate that MedLA consistently outperforms both static role-based systems and single-agent baselines on challenging benchmarks such as MedDDx and standard medical QA tasks. Furthermore, MedLA scales effectively across both open-source and commercial LLM backbones, achieving state-of-the-art performance and offering a generalizable paradigm for trustworthy medical reasoning.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1609\/aaai.v40i2.37052","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2026,3,17]],"date-time":"2026-03-17T22:54:06Z","timestamp":1773788046000},"page":"845-853","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["MedLA: A Logic-Driven Multi-Agent Framework for Complex Medical Reasoning with Large Language Models"],"prefix":"10.1609","volume":"40","author":[{"given":"Siqi","family":"Ma","sequence":"first","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Jiajie","family":"Huang","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Fan","family":"Zhang","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Jinlin","family":"Wu","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Yue","family":"Shen","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Guohui","family":"Fan","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Zhu","family":"Zhang","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Zelin","family":"Zang","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]}],"member":"9382","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2026,3,14]]},"container-title":["Proceedings of the AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence"],"original-title":[],"link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/ojs.aaai.org\/index.php\/AAAI\/article\/download\/37052\/41014","content-type":"application\/pdf","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"text-mining"},{"URL":"https:\/\/ojs.aaai.org\/index.php\/AAAI\/article\/download\/37052\/41014","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2026,3,17]],"date-time":"2026-03-17T22:54:06Z","timestamp":1773788046000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/ojs.aaai.org\/index.php\/AAAI\/article\/view\/37052"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2026,3,14]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"2","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2026,3,17]]}},"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1609\/aaai.v40i2.37052","relation":{},"ISSN":["2374-3468","2159-5399"],"issn-type":[{"value":"2374-3468","type":"electronic"},{"value":"2159-5399","type":"print"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2026,3,14]]}}}
