The Songliao Basin in northeast China is thought to be well suited for investigation of Cretaceous biostratigraphy. However, despite much research having been conducted in the basin, little is known about its Late Cretaceous biostratigraphy and paleoenvironment. Here, we establish a high-resolution biostratigraphy of the Late Cretaceous based on ostracods from borehole SK1(n) in the Songliao Basin, northeast China. As part of the present study, 45 species assigned to 20 genera have been recovered, with one new species (<jats:italic><jats:italic>Ilyocypris bisulcata<\/jats:italic><\/jats:italic>n. sp.) and five ostracod assemblages: the<jats:italic>Cypridea gunsulinensis<\/jats:italic>\u2013<jats:italic>Mongolocypris magna<\/jats:italic>assemblage, which is marked by the first occurrence (F.O.) of<jats:italic>Ilyocyprimorpha<\/jats:italic>with nodes and spines; the<jats:italic>Ilyocyprimorpha<\/jats:italic>\u2013<jats:italic>Limnocypridea sunliaonensis\u2013Periacanthella<\/jats:italic>assemblage, which ranges from the F.O. of<jats:italic>Ilyocyprimorpha<\/jats:italic>with nodes and spines to the F.O. of<jats:italic><jats:italic>Strumosia<\/jats:italic><\/jats:italic>sp.; the<jats:italic>Strumosia inandita<\/jats:italic>assemblage from the F.O. of<jats:italic><jats:italic>Strumosia<\/jats:italic><\/jats:italic>sp. to the lower occurrence (L.O.) of<jats:italic>Strumosia inandita<\/jats:italic>; the<jats:italic>Talicypridea amoena<\/jats:italic>\u2013<jats:italic>Metacypris kaitunensis<\/jats:italic>\u2013<jats:italic>Ziziphocypris simakovi<\/jats:italic>assemblage from the F.O. of<jats:italic>Mongolocypris apiculata<\/jats:italic>(Cea) and<jats:italic>Talicypridea amoena<\/jats:italic>to the F.O. of<jats:italic><jats:italic>Ilyocypris<\/jats:italic><\/jats:italic>sp.; and the<jats:italic>Ilyocypris<\/jats:italic>assemblage from the F.O. of<jats:italic><jats:italic>Ilyocypris<\/jats:italic><\/jats:italic>sp. to the L.O. of<jats:italic><jats:italic>Ilyocypris bisulcata<\/jats:italic><\/jats:italic>n. sp.<\/jats:p><jats:p>Moreover, the zonal fossil<jats:italic><jats:italic>Ilyocypris bisulcata<\/jats:italic><\/jats:italic>n. sp. of Zone 5 is here described for the first time from the upper Mingshui Formation, and Paleocene charophyte genera including<jats:italic>Neochara<\/jats:italic>and<jats:italic>Grovesicahra<\/jats:italic>have been found to coexist with the Zone 5 fauna. The age of the<jats:italic>Ilyocypris<\/jats:italic>Assemblage is assigned to the latest Maastrichtian to the earliest
