In recent decades, however, artificial intelligence (AI) as a new manifestation of technology has played a significant role in these wars. The United States has been a pioneer in this field, making substantial investments, annually allocates multibillion-dollar budgets to advance robotic and automated weapons to win future wars. Artificial intelligence proxy wars can manage the competition between international actors as a mediating factor without wasting human resources. The main question of this article is as follows: What is the role of artificial intelligence in U.S. military strategy, and how much can this new technology help win proxy wars? The findings indicate that the United States, by applying artificial intelligence technology to its military equipment with remote control capabilities, robots, and automated guided weapons, has reduced human and financial costs while increasing the probability of triumph on the battlefield. However, the obtained data, according to moral and humanitarian criteria, suggest a high rate of civilian casualties in such military conflicts.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.21140\/mcuj.20251602007","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2026,2,9]],"date-time":"2026-02-09T19:09:17Z","timestamp":1770664157000},"page":"151-166","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["The Role of Artificial Intelligence in the U.S. Military Strategy in Proxy Wars, 2020\u20132024"],"prefix":"10.21140","volume":"16","author":[{"given":"Ehsan","family":"Ejazi","sequence":"first","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Mahsa","family":"Ahmadyan","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"8715","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2025,12,12]]},"container-title":["Journal of Advanced Military Studies"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2026,2,9]],"date-time":"2026-02-09T19:09:19Z","timestamp":1770664159000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.usmcu.edu\/Outreach\/Marine-Corps-University-Press\/MCU-Journal\/JAMS-vol-16-no-2\/The-Role-of-Artificial-Intelligence\/"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2025,12,12]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"2","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2025,12,12]]},"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2026,2,9]]}},"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.21140\/mcuj.20251602007","relation":{},"ISSN":["2770-2596","2770-260X"],"issn-type":[{"value":"2770-2596","type":"print"},{"value":"2770-260X","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2025,12,12]]}}}
