This study presents a microfluidic approach for the controlled generation of monodisperse giant unilamellar vesicles (GUVs) encapsulating ciprofloxacin, a widely used antibiotic for treating bacterial infections. The incorporation of cholesterol into the lipid bilayer was evaluated to optimize membrane stability and reduce leakage. Characterization techniques such as fluorescence and atomic force microscopy (AFM) were employed to assess vesicle stability, unilamellarity, and encapsulation efficiency. The antibacterial efficacy of ciprofloxacin-loaded GUVs was tested against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, demonstrating enhanced performance compared to the unencapsulated drug.
