{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2026,2,24]],"date-time":"2026-02-24T16:09:34Z","timestamp":1771949374505,"version":"3.50.1"},"posted":{"date-parts":[[2026]]},"group-title":"SSRN","reference-count":0,"publisher":"Elsevier BV","content-domain":{"domain":[],"crossmark-restriction":false},"short-container-title":[],"abstract":"<jats:p>Bone and dental implants are medical devices used to help regenerate, augment, or replace bone tissue or address the consequences of different dental pathologies that result in tooth loss. In this study, different hydroxyapatite (HAp) and HAp\/BaTiO3 (barium titanate, BT) coatings were assessed to compare compositions and coating techniques relevant to implant applications. The coatings were applied onto Ti-6Al-4V plates using the plasma spray and the CoBlast\u2122 techniques, with the use of HAp, HAp\/BT cubic nanopowders (HAp\/cBT) and tetragonal micropowders (HAp\/tBT). The samples were analyzed for bioactivity and cell responses, with a specific focus on in vitro adhesion, proliferation, metabolism, and cell morphology. Results showed that plasma sprayed coatings present the fastest calcium phosphate layer formation when immersed in simulated body bluid. Regarding cell proliferation, ALP production, cytoskeletal organization and focal adhesion formation, the HAp\/cBT and HAp\/tBT coatings performed comparably or better than the pure HAp coatings.
