However, studies regarding its biological properties focused mainly on its aerial organs.<\/jats:p>\n<\/jats:sec>\n<jats:sec>\n<jats:title>Objective:<\/jats:title>\n<jats:p>The objective of the present work was to make a comparative evaluation of the in vitro\nantioxidant and enzyme inhibitory activities of ethanol extracts and fractions (chloroform, ethyl acetate,\nn-butanol and aqueous) from roots and leaves of L. europaeum, along with its total phenolic,\nflavonoid and tannin contents.<\/jats:p>\n<\/jats:sec>\n<jats:sec>\n<jats:title>Methods:<\/jats:title>\n<jats:p>The antioxidant activity was evaluated by the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH),\n2,2\u2019-azino-bis-3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulphonic acid (ABTS), superoxide radical, \u03b2-carotene\nbleaching, cupric reducing and ferric reducing activity methods<\/jats:p>\n<\/jats:sec>\n<jats:sec>\n<jats:title>Results:<\/jats:title>\n<jats:p>The n-butanol fraction from roots had the highest antioxidant activity in all the assays,\nand was also the most active against acetylcholinesterase, butyrylcholinesterase and urease (IC50\nvalues of 92.63, 118.26 and 135.60 \u03bcgmL-1, respectively).
