Their key distinguishing feature\n   is the extraction of meaning from users? queries without the use of syntactic\n   or semantic representations. Three approaches to identifying the users?\n   intended meanings were investigated: keyword based systems, Jaro-based string\n   similarity algorithms and matching based on very shallow syntactic analysis.\n   These were measured against a corpus of queries contributed by users of\n   aWWW-hosted infobot for responding to questions about applications to MSc\n   courses. The most effective system was Jaro with stemmed input (78.57%). It\n   also was able to process ungrammatical input and offer scalability.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.2298\/csis121202065h","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2013,9,30]],"date-time":"2013-09-30T10:45:36Z","timestamp":1380537936000},"page":"1703-1726","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":1,"title":["An evaluation of keyword, string similarity and very shallow syntactic matching for a university admissions processing infobot"],"prefix":"10.2298","volume":"10","author":[{"given":"Peter","family":"Hancox","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Computer Science, University of Birmingham Edgbaston, Birmingham, United Kingdom"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Nikolaos","family":"Polatidis","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Applied Informatics, University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"1078","container-title":["Computer Science and Information Systems"],"original-title":[],"language":"en","deposited":{"date-parts":[[2023,5,29]],"date-time":"2023-05-29T08:31:13Z","timestamp":1685349073000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/doiserbia.nb.rs\/Article.aspx?ID=1820-02141300065H"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2013]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"4","published-print":{"date-parts":[[2013]]}},"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.2298\/csis121202065h","relation":{},"ISSN":["1820-0214","2406-1018"],"issn-type":[{"value":"1820-0214","type":"print"},{"value":"2406-1018","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2013]]}}}
