{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2026,7,21]],"date-time":"2026-07-21T06:40:50Z","timestamp":1784616050322,"version":"3.55.0"},"reference-count":20,"publisher":"Duke University Press","issue":"4","content-domain":{"domain":[],"crossmark-restriction":false},"short-container-title":[],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[1995,11,1]]},"abstract":"<jats:title>Abstract<\/jats:title>\n               <jats:p>The results of recent correlations showing a negative impact of population growth on economic development in cross-country data for the 1980s, versus \u201cnonsignificant\u201d correlations widely found for the 1960s and 1970s, are examined with contemporaneous and lagged components of demographic change, convergence-type economic modeling, and several statistical frameworks. The separate impacts of births and deaths are found to be notable but offsetting in the earlier periods.
