A result by Froese et al. [JCSS] implies a 2^2^(O(k)) * poly(|A|)-time brute-force algorithm for Distinct Vectors. We show that this running time bound is essentially optimal by showing that there is a constant c such that the existence of an algorithm solving Distinct Vectors with running time 2^(O(2^(ck))) * poly(|A|) would contradict the Exponential Time Hypothesis.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.23638\/dmtcs-22-4-7","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,4,3]],"date-time":"2025-04-03T16:57:57Z","timestamp":1743699477000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["A Double Exponential Lower Bound for the Distinct Vectors Problem"],"prefix":"10.23638","volume":"vol. 22 no. 4","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-5680-7397","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Marcin","family":"Pilipczuk","sequence":"first","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Manuel","family":"Sorge","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"25203","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2020,9,18]]},"container-title":["Discrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science"],"original-title":[],"language":"en","link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/arxiv.org\/pdf\/2002.01293v3","content-type":"application\/pdf","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"text-mining"},{"URL":"https:\/\/arxiv.org\/pdf\/2002.01293v3","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,4,3]],"date-time":"2025-04-03T16:57:57Z","timestamp":1743699477000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"http:\/\/dmtcs.episciences.org\/6072"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2020,9,18]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"Discrete Algorithms","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2020,9,18]]}},"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.23638\/dmtcs-22-4-7","relation":{"has-preprint":[{"id-type":"arxiv","id":"2002.01293v2","asserted-by":"subject"},{"id-type":"arxiv","id":"2002.01293v1","asserted-by":"subject"}],"is-same-as":[{"id-type":"arxiv","id":"2002.01293","asserted-by":"subject"},{"id-type":"doi","id":"10.48550\/arXiv.2002.01293","asserted-by":"subject"}]},"ISSN":["1365-8050"],"issn-type":[{"type":"electronic","value":"1365-8050"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2020,9,18]]},"article-number":"6072"}}
