On the highways of a road\nnetwork, we consider the macroscopic description of the traffic flow and switch to the\nkinetic model to compute the mass flux through a junction. This new model reproduces\nthe capacity drop phenomenon at a merge junction, for instance, without imposing any\npriority rule. We present some numerical simulations in which we compare the results\nof the hybrid model with those given by the fully macroscopic model. Furthermore, we\nillustrate the consequences of the velocity distribution on the flow through a merging\njunction.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.2478\/cmam-2009-0015","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2013,4,15]],"date-time":"2013-04-15T15:49:23Z","timestamp":1366040963000},"page":"238-252","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":21,"title":["A Macro-kinetic Hybrid Model for Traffic Flow on Road Networks"],"prefix":"10.2478","volume":"9","author":[{"given":"M.","family":"Herty","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"1RWTH Aachen University, Mathematik, Templergraben 55, D-52065 Aachen, Germany."}]},{"given":"S.","family":"Moutari","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"2CenSSOR David Bates Building, Queen\u2019s University Belfast, University Road, Belfast BT7 1NN, United Kingdom."}]}],"member":"374","container-title":["Computational Methods in Applied Mathematics"],"original-title":[],"link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/www.degruyter.com\/view\/journals\/cmam\/9\/3\/article-p238.xml","content-type":"text\/html","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"text-mining"},{"URL":"https:\/\/www.degruyter.com\/document\/doi\/10.2478\/cmam-2009-0015\/pdf","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2021,4,22]],"date-time":"2021-04-22T14:21:27Z","timestamp":1619101287000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.degruyter.com\/view\/journals\/cmam\/9\/3\/article-p238.xml"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2009]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"3"},"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.2478\/cmam-2009-0015","relation":{},"ISSN":["1609-9389","1609-4840"],"issn-type":[{"value":"1609-9389","type":"electronic"},{"value":"1609-4840","type":"print"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2009]]}}}
