The plate kinematics\nis based on the recently proposed Carrera Unified Formulation\n(CUF), and the field variables are discretized\nwith the non-uniform rational B-splines within the framework\nof isogeometric analysis (IGA). The proposed approach\nallows the construction of higher-order smooth\nfunctions with less computational effort.Moreover, within\nthe framework of IGA, the geometry is represented exactly\nby the Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines (NURBS) and the\nisoparametric concept is used to define the field variables.\nOn the other hand, the CUF allows for a systematic study\nof two dimensional plate formulations. The combination\nof the IGA with the CUF allows for a very accurate prediction\nof the field variables. The static bending and free vibration\nof thin and moderately thick laminated plates are\nstudied. The present approach also suffers fromshear locking\nwhen lower order functions are employed and shear\nlocking is suppressed by introducing a modification factor.\nThe effectiveness of the formulation is demonstrated\nthrough numerical examples.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.2478\/cls-2014-0001","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2014,12,11]],"date-time":"2014-12-11T10:13:29Z","timestamp":1418292809000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":10,"title":["Analysis of cross-ply laminated plates using\nisogeometric analysis and unified formulation"],"prefix":"10.2478","volume":"1","author":[{"given":"S.","family":"Natarajan","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, Chennai - 600036, India"}]},{"given":"A.J.M.","family":"Ferreira","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto, Porto, Portugal"}]},{"given":"Hung","family":"Nguyen-Xuan","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Mechanics, Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Science, HCMC, Vietnam"}]}],"member":"374","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2014,12,10]]},"container-title":["Curved and Layered Structures"],"original-title":[],"language":"en","link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/www.degruyter.com\/document\/doi\/10.2478\/cls-2014-0001\/xml","content-type":"application\/xml","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"text-mining"},{"URL":"https:\/\/www.degruyter.com\/document\/doi\/10.2478\/cls-2014-0001\/pdf","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2022,4,27]],"date-time":"2022-04-27T09:57:46Z","timestamp":1651053466000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.degruyter.com\/document\/doi\/10.2478\/cls-2014-0001\/html"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2014,12,10]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"1","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2014,12,10]]}},"alternative-id":["10.2478\/cls-2014-0001"],"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.2478\/cls-2014-0001","relation":{},"ISSN":["2353-7396"],"issn-type":[{"value":"2353-7396","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2014,12,10]]}}}
