However, this vision task is quite challenging, especially under complex image scenes. Inspired by the intrinsic reflection of natural images, in this paper we propose a novel feature learning framework for large-scale salient object detection. Specifically, we design a symmetrical fully convolutional network (SFCN) to learn complementary saliency features under the guidance of lossless feature reflection. The location information, together with contextual and semantic information, of salient objects are jointly utilized to supervise the proposed network for more accurate saliency predictions. In addition, to overcome the blurry boundary problem, we propose a new structural loss function to learn clear object boundaries and spatially consistent saliency. The coarse prediction results are effectively refined by these structural information for performance improvements. Extensive experiments on seven saliency detection datasets demonstrate that our approach achieves consistently superior performance and outperforms the very recent state-of-the-art methods.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.24963\/ijcai.2018\/160","type":"proceedings-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2018,7,5]],"date-time":"2018-07-05T01:49:10Z","timestamp":1530755350000},"page":"1149-1155","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":25,"title":["Salient Object Detection by Lossless Feature Reflection"],"prefix":"10.24963","author":[{"given":"Pingping","family":"Zhang","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Dalian University of Technology"},{"name":"University of Adelaide"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Wei","family":"Liu","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Shanghai Jiao Tong University"},{"name":"University of Adelaide"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Huchuan","family":"Lu","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Dalian University of Technology"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Chunhua","family":"Shen","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Adelaide"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"10584","event":{"name":"Twenty-Seventh International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence {IJCAI-18}","theme":"Artificial Intelligence","location":"Stockholm, Sweden","acronym":"IJCAI-2018","number":"27","sponsor":["International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence Organization (IJCAI)"],"start":{"date-parts":[[2018,7,13]]},"end":{"date-parts":[[2018,7,19]]}},"container-title":["Proceedings of the Twenty-Seventh International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2018,7,5]],"date-time":"2018-07-05T01:50:27Z","timestamp":1530755427000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.ijcai.org\/proceedings\/2018\/160"}},"subtitle":[],"proceedings-subject":"Artificial Intelligence Research Articles","short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2018,7]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.24963\/ijcai.2018\/160","relation":{},"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2018,7]]}}}
