The challenge\n\nof developing flexible solutions where production\n\nlines can be quickly re-planned, adapted and structured\n\nfor new or slightly changed products is still\n\nan important open problem. Industrial robots today\n\nare still largely preprogrammed for their tasks,\n\nnot able to detect errors in their own performance\n\nor to robustly interact with a complex environment\n\nand a human worker. The challenges are even more\n\nserious when it comes to various types of service\n\nrobots. Full robot autonomy, including natural interaction,\n\nlearning from and with human, safe and\n\nflexible performance for challenging tasks in unstructured\n\nenvironments will remain out of reach\n\nfor the foreseeable future. In the envisioned future\n\nfactory setups, home and office environments,\n\nhumans and robots will share the same workspace\n\nand perform different object manipulation tasks in\n\na collaborative manner. We discuss some of the\n\nmajor challenges of developing such systems and\n\nprovide examples of the current state of the art.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.24963\/ijcai.2018\/3","type":"proceedings-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2018,7,5]],"date-time":"2018-07-05T01:49:10Z","timestamp":1530755350000},"page":"18-25","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":83,"title":["Interactive, Collaborative Robots: Challenges and Opportunities"],"prefix":"10.24963","author":[{"given":"Danica","family":"Kragic","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Joakim","family":"Gustafson","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Hakan","family":"Karaoguz","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Patric","family":"Jensfelt","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Robert","family":"Krug","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]}],"member":"10584","event":{"name":"Twenty-Seventh International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence {IJCAI-18}","theme":"Artificial Intelligence","location":"Stockholm, Sweden","acronym":"IJCAI-2018","number":"27","sponsor":["International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence Organization (IJCAI)"],"start":{"date-parts":[[2018,7,13]]},"end":{"date-parts":[[2018,7,19]]}},"container-title":["Proceedings of the Twenty-Seventh International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2018,7,5]],"date-time":"2018-07-05T01:49:13Z","timestamp":1530755353000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.ijcai.org\/proceedings\/2018\/3"}},"subtitle":[],"proceedings-subject":"Artificial Intelligence Research Articles","short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2018,7]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.24963\/ijcai.2018\/3","relation":{},"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2018,7]]}}}
