We take the group envy-freeness concept that is well-established in the literature and present stronger and relaxed versions that are especially suitable for the allocation of indivisible items. Of particular interest is a concept called group envy-freeness up to one item (GEF1). We then present a clear taxonomy of the fairness concepts. We study which fairness concepts guarantee the existence of a fair allocation under which preference domain. For two natural classes of additive utilities, we design polynomial-time algorithms to compute a GEF1 allocation. We also prove that checking whether a given allocation satisfies GEF1 is coNP-complete when there are either only goods, only chores or both.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.24963\/ijcai.2020\/6","type":"proceedings-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2020,7,8]],"date-time":"2020-07-08T12:12:10Z","timestamp":1594210330000},"page":"39-45","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":15,"title":["Almost Group Envy-free Allocation of Indivisible Goods and Chores"],"prefix":"10.24963","author":[{"given":"Haris","family":"Aziz","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"UNSW Sydney"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Simon","family":"Rey","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Amsterdam"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"10584","event":{"name":"Twenty-Ninth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Seventeenth Pacific Rim International Conference on Artificial Intelligence {IJCAI-PRICAI-20}","theme":"Artificial Intelligence","location":"Yokohama, Japan","acronym":"IJCAI-PRICAI-2020","number":"28","sponsor":["International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence Organization (IJCAI)"],"start":{"date-parts":[[2020,7,11]]},"end":{"date-parts":[[2020,7,17]]}},"container-title":["Proceedings of the Twenty-Ninth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2020,7,9]],"date-time":"2020-07-09T02:12:51Z","timestamp":1594260771000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.ijcai.org\/proceedings\/2020\/6"}},"subtitle":[],"proceedings-subject":"Artificial Intelligence Research Articles","short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2020,7]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.24963\/ijcai.2020\/6","relation":{},"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2020,7]]}}}
