Existing studies are mostly based on RNNs, which struggle to capture interactive information among fine granular volatility patterns. Besides, they either treat stocks as isolated, or presuppose a fixed graph structure heavily relying on prior domain knowledge. In this paper, we propose a novel Adaptive Long-Short Pattern Transformer (ALSP-TF) for stock ranking in terms of expected returns. Specifically, we overcome the limitations of canonical self-attention including context and position agnostic, with two additional capacities: (i) fine-grained pattern distiller to contextualize queries and keys based on localized feature scales, and (ii) time-adaptive modulator to let the dependency modeling among pattern pairs sensitive to different time intervals. Attention heads in stacked layers gradually harvest short- and long-term transition traits, spontaneously boosting the diversity of representations. Moreover, we devise a graph self-supervised regularization, which helps automatically assimilate the collective synergy of stocks and improve the generalization ability of overall model. Experiments on three exchange market datasets show ALSP-TF\u2019s superiority over state-of-the-art stock forecast methods.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.24963\/ijcai.2022\/551","type":"proceedings-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2022,7,16]],"date-time":"2022-07-16T02:55:56Z","timestamp":1657940156000},"page":"3970-3977","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":38,"title":["Adaptive Long-Short Pattern Transformer for Stock Investment Selection"],"prefix":"10.24963","author":[{"given":"Heyuan","family":"Wang","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Computer Science, National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data Analysis and Applications, Peking University, China"},{"name":"Institute of Computational Social Science, Peking University (Qingdao)"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Tengjiao","family":"Wang","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Computer Science, National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data Analysis and Applications, Peking University, China"},{"name":"Institute of Computational Social Science, Peking University (Qingdao)"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Shun","family":"Li","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of International Relations"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Jiayi","family":"Zheng","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Computer Science, National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data Analysis and Applications, Peking University, China"},{"name":"Institute of Computational Social Science, Peking University (Qingdao)"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Shijie","family":"Guan","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Computer Science, National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data Analysis and Applications, Peking University, China"},{"name":"Institute of Computational Social Science, Peking University (Qingdao)"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Wei","family":"Chen","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Computer Science, National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data Analysis and Applications, Peking University, China"},{"name":"Institute of Computational Social Science, Peking University (Qingdao)"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]}],"member":"10584","event":{"name":"Thirty-First International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence {IJCAI-22}","theme":"Artificial Intelligence","location":"Vienna, Austria","acronym":"IJCAI-2022","number":"31","sponsor":["International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence Organization (IJCAI)"],"start":{"date-parts":[[2022,7,23]]},"end":{"date-parts":[[2022,7,29]]}},"container-title":["Proceedings of the Thirty-First International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2022,7,18]],"date-time":"2022-07-18T11:10:20Z","timestamp":1658142620000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.ijcai.org\/proceedings\/2022\/551"}},"subtitle":[],"proceedings-subject":"Artificial Intelligence Research Articles","short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2022,7]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.24963\/ijcai.2022\/551","relation":{},"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2022,7]]}}}
