{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2026,7,28]],"date-time":"2026-07-28T01:30:49Z","timestamp":1785202249109,"version":"3.55.0"},"publisher-location":"California","reference-count":0,"publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence Organization","content-domain":{"domain":[],"crossmark-restriction":false},"short-container-title":[],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2025,9]]},"abstract":"<jats:p>Argumentation is a central subarea of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for modeling and reasoning about arguments. \n\nThe semantics of abstract argumentation frameworks (AFs) is given by sets of arguments (extensions) and conditions on the relationship between arguments, such as stable or admissible.\n\nToday's solvers implement tasks such as finding extensions, deciding credulously or skeptically acceptance, counting, or enumerating extensions.\n\nWhile these tasks are well charted, the area between decision and counting\/enumeration and fine-grained reasoning requires expensive reasoning so far.\n\nWe introduce a novel concept (facets) for reasoning between decision and enumeration. \n\nFacets are arguments that belong to some  extensions (credulous) but not to all extensions (skeptical).\n\nThey are most natural when a user aims to navigate, filter, or comprehend specific arguments, according to their needs. \n\nWe study the complexity and show that tasks involving facets are much easier than counting extensions.\n\nFinally, we provide an implementation, and conduct experiments to demonstrate feasibility.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.24963\/ijcai.2025\/500","type":"proceedings-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,9,19]],"date-time":"2025-09-19T08:10:40Z","timestamp":1758269440000},"page":"4491-4499","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":1,"title":["Facets in Argumentation: A Formal Approach to Argument Significance"],"prefix":"10.24963","author":[{"given":"Johannes K.","family":"Fichte","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Link\u00f6ping University"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Nicolas","family":"Fr\u00f6hlich","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Leibniz Universit\u00e4t Hannover"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Markus","family":"Hecher","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Univ.
