The semantics was built on the modeling tradition of distributed systems.\n\nAs we show here, this can sometimes lead to counterintuitive interpretation of formulas when reasoning about the outcome of strategies. First, the semantics disregards finite paths, and yields unnatural evaluation of strategies with deadlocks. Secondly, the semantic representations do not allow to capture the asymmetry between proactive agents and the recipients of their choices. We propose how to avoid the problems by a suitable extension of the representations and change of the execution semantics for asynchronous MAS. We also prove that the model reduction scheme still works in the modified framework.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.24963\/kr.2021\/35","type":"proceedings-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2021,10,11]],"date-time":"2021-10-11T12:45:56Z","timestamp":1633956356000},"page":"368-378","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":1,"title":["Strategic Abilities of Asynchronous Agents: Semantic Side Effects and How to Tame Them"],"prefix":"10.24963","author":[{"given":"Wojciech","family":"Jamroga","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Institute of Computer Science, Polish Academy of Sciences"},{"name":"Interdisciplinary Centre on Security, Reliability and Trust, SnT, University of Luxembourg"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Wojciech","family":"Penczek","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Institute of Computer Science, Polish Academy of Sciences"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Teofil","family":"Sidoruk","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Institute of Computer Science, Polish Academy of Sciences"},{"name":"Faculty of Mathematics and Information Science, Warsaw University of Technology"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"10584","event":{"number":"18","sponsor":["Artificial Intelligence Journal","Principles of Knowledge Representation and Reasoning Inc.","Sea AI Lab","Potassco Solutions","European Association for Artificial Intelligence"],"acronym":"KR-2021","name":"18th International Conference on Principles of Knowledge Representation and Reasoning {KR-2021}","start":{"date-parts":[[2020,11,12]]},"theme":"Artificial Intelligence","location":"Hanoii, Vietnam","end":{"date-parts":[[2021,11,18]]}},"container-title":["Proceedings of the Eighteenth International Conference on Principles of Knowledge Representation and Reasoning"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2021,10,11]],"date-time":"2021-10-11T12:46:16Z","timestamp":1633956376000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/proceedings.kr.org\/2021\/35"}},"subtitle":[],"proceedings-subject":"Artificial Intelligence Research Articles","short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2021,9]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.24963\/kr.2021\/35","relation":{},"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2021,9]]}}}
