A smart abstraction of the state space may significantly reduce the model,and facilitate the verification. In this paper, we propose and study an intuitive agent-based abstraction scheme, based on the removal of variables in the representation of a MAS. This allows to achieve a desired reduction of a state space without generating the global model of the system. Moreover, the process is easy to understand and control even for domain experts with little knowledge of computer science. We formally prove the correctness of the approach, and evaluate the gains experimentally on a family of a postal voting models.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.24963\/kr.2023\/38","type":"proceedings-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2023,7,31]],"date-time":"2023-07-31T22:27:47Z","timestamp":1690842467000},"page":"384-394","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":1,"title":["Practical Abstraction for Model Checking of Multi-Agent Systems"],"prefix":"10.24963","author":[{"given":"Wojciech","family":"Jamroga","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability, and Trust, SnT, University of Luxembourg"},{"name":"Institute of Computer Science, Polish Academy of Science"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Yan","family":"Kim","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability, and Trust, SnT, University of Luxembourg"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"10584","event":{"number":"20","sponsor":["Artificial Intelligence Journal","Principles of Knowledge Representation and Reasoning Inc.","Academic College of Tel-Aviv","European Association for Artificial Intelligence","National Science Foundation"],"acronym":"KR-2023","name":"20th International Conference on Principles of Knowledge Representation and Reasoning {KR-2023}","start":{"date-parts":[[2023,9,2]]},"theme":"Artificial Intelligence","location":"Rhodes, Greece","end":{"date-parts":[[2023,9,8]]}},"container-title":["Proceedings of the Twentieth International Conference on Principles of Knowledge Representation and Reasoning"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2023,7,31]],"date-time":"2023-07-31T22:28:22Z","timestamp":1690842502000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/proceedings.kr.org\/2023\/38"}},"subtitle":[],"proceedings-subject":"Artificial Intelligence Research Articles","short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2023,9]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.24963\/kr.2023\/38","relation":{},"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2023,9]]}}}
