Our approach integrates a dynamic speed model with network augmentation to optimize air traffic routing, ensuring efficient and collision-free arrival schedules. The proposed model allows for dynamic speed adjustments to minimize travel time and conflicts in air traffic, reducing traffic network complexity and computational overhead. Simulation results demonstrated significant reductions in travel distances, processing times, and energy consumption compared to traditional methods. Real-world case studies further demonstrated the effectiveness of the approach, highlighting its scalability and applicability in diverse air traffic scenarios. This work offers a promising framework for integrating advanced air mobility into existing airspace, contributing to a more sustainable and efficient transportation system. <\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.2514\/1.i011474","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,4,7]],"date-time":"2025-04-07T13:45:54Z","timestamp":1744033554000},"page":"433-446","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.2514\/aiaa_crossmarkpolicy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":1,"title":["Air Traffic Management in Dense Airspace via Network Flow Optimization"],"prefix":"10.2514","volume":"22","author":[{"given":"Hanyao","family":"Hu","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Purdue University"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Jeffrey","family":"Sun","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"West Lafayette Jr.\/St. High School"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Bin","family":"Du","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"1387","reference":[{"key":"r4","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.3390\/drones7050319"},{"key":"r5","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1016\/j.jairtraman.2024.102573"},{"key":"r6","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1016\/j.paerosci.2016.10.001"},{"key":"r7","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1016\/j.trb.2017.05.014"},{"key":"r8","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1109\/JPROC.2008.2006141"},{"issue":"53","key":"r10","first-page":"157","volume":"46","author":"Cplex I.
