{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2026,9,7]],"date-time":"2026-09-07T22:44:35Z","timestamp":1788821075906,"version":"build-2803163510"},"reference-count":54,"publisher":"Westerdijk Fungal Biodiversity Institute","issue":"1","content-domain":{"domain":[],"crossmark-restriction":false},"short-container-title":["Studies in Mycology"],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2026,3,15]]},"abstract":"<jats:p>\n                    Genomic-level data have enabled us to infer better resolved phylogenetic estimates and revolutionised our views on fungal relationships.\n                    <jats:italic>Agaricineae<\/jats:italic>\n                    is the largest suborder of\n                    <jats:italic>Agaricales<\/jats:italic>\n                    and mainly comprises the brown- and dark-spored\n                    <jats:italic>Agaricales<\/jats:italic>\n                    with thick-walled\n and pigmented basidiospores. Our study is the most extensive phylogenomic study of the suborder\n                    <jats:italic>Agaricineae<\/jats:italic>\n                    to date including 54 genera and 86 species. For 25 of them, shallow whole genome sequence data were produced in this study from dried fungarium specimens collected between 1997\n and 2016. A total of 24 families is recognised including five that are proposed as new:\n                    <jats:italic>Agrocybaceae<\/jats:italic>\n                    ,\n                    <jats:italic>Galerinaceae<\/jats:italic>\n                    ,\n                    <jats:italic>Hemipholiotaceae<\/jats:italic>\n                    ,\n                    <jats:italic>Kuehneromycetaceae<\/jats:italic>\n                    and\n                    <jats:italic>Phaeocollybiaceae<\/jats:italic>\n                    . In addition,\n                    <jats:italic>Battarreaceae<\/jats:italic>\n                    and\n                    <jats:italic>Chromocyphellaceae<\/jats:italic>\n                    are accepted at\n family level based on previous phylogenetic studies, bringing the total number of accepted families in the suborder\n                    <jats:italic>Agaricineae<\/jats:italic>\n                    to 26. The families are further grouped into eight informal \"superfamilies\": Agaricacea, Bolbitiacea, Cortinariacea, Galeropsidacea, Inocybacea, Nidulariacea,\n Psathyrellacea, and Strophariacea.
