Der Beitrag beschr\u00e4nkt sich auf \neinige ausgew\u00e4hlte \u00bbgute Gr\u00fcnde\u00ab f\u00fcr die Retro-\nDigitalisierung des (schriftlichen) Kulturguts und spannt \ndabei den Bogen von der Bestandsschonung und Infor-\nmationssicherung \u00fcber organisatorische und \nbetriebswirtschaftliche Aspekte bis hin zu \nbenutzerfreundlichen Pr\u00e4sentations- \nund Informationsformen. Abschlie\u00dfend wird noch auf die \nNotwendigkeit hingewiesen, die wertvollen sowie oftmals \nunikalen St\u00fccke durch konsequente Nutzung des Internets \naktiv zu bewerben, um die Wirkungsbreite derartiger \nNischenprodukte zu erh\u00f6hen. \nDigitalization has opened up a variety of opportunities for \narchives, libraries and museums which, in part, continue \nlongstanding and well-tried procedures from the analog \nworld, and, in part, follow a completely new path. This article \ndeals solely with a few select \u00bbgood reasons\u00ab for \nretrospective digitalization of (written) cultural assets and \ndraws together aspects of preservation and information \nconservation, organizational and economic concerns, and \nuser-friendly forms of presentation and information \nprovision.
