Drei S\u00e4ulen bilden den Kern von ZEFYS, das als ein umfassendes Fachportal f\u00fcr Zeitungen in Deutschland entwickelt werden soll: ZEFYS-digital f\u00fcr die Pr\u00e4sentation und den Nachweis digitalisierter Zeitungsinhalte; ZEFYS-Katalog f\u00fcr den zentralen Zugang sowohl zu den Zeitungstiteln und -best\u00e4nden der ZDB wie zu anderen Zeitungsverzeichnissen und drittens ZEFYS-Info f\u00fcr den Fachinformationsf\u00fchrer wie auch f\u00fcr nutzerbasierte Informationen von und \u00fcber Zeitungen sowie als fachspezifisches Forum zeitungsrelevanter Inhalte. \nBefore presenting the newspaper portal ZEFYS which has been un-der construction at the State Library of Berlin since 2009, this article presents a cursory overview of efforts on the part of scholars, librarians and bibliographers in Germany - which can be considered the birthplace of the newspaper - going back over 130 years (though unfortunately mostly in vain) to establish a national newspaper archive and a national newspaper bibliography.
