MEI vorgelegten Ergebnisse sind mit bibliothekarischen Metadaten kombinierbar und m\u00fcssen\nals offenes Ausgangsmaterial weiterer Forschungen langfristig verf\u00fcgbar gehalten werden. Somit verschwimmen die Grenzen zwischen den\nAufgaben von Forschung und Bibliothek. Illustriert und diskutiert werden Probleme und Folgen dieser sich abzeichnenden Ver\u00e4nderungen,\ndie letztlich auch zu einer Neudefinition dessen f\u00fchren d\u00fcrften, was mit \u00bbMusikedition\u00ab gemeint ist.\n\nFor the past 150 years scholarly music editions have made use of similar techniques, but the accessibility of sources has continually\nbecome easier. Digital editions make thorough use of facsimiles and, hence, bridge the gap between researcher and user. But the\ncapabilities of digital media will only be realized when, in the future, images can be encoded and made available in standardized formats.\nThe results of scholarly work presented in the formats of XML or MEI can be combined with bibliographic metadata and need to be made\nopenly accessible over the long-term as base data for ongoing research. As a consequence, however, the boundaries between the tasks of\nresearch and library conservation become blurred.
