To investigate the difference between active database systems and autonomous evolutionary information systems and to find some complementary development methodologies for the both, this paper presents a comparative study of active database systems and autonomous evolutionary information systems. We comparatively discuss motivations, purposes, capabilities, logical foundations of active database systems and autonomous evolutionary information systems.
