The starting point is a study on the discoursive and argumentative characteristiques of ten legal documents from the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). Then, a generalization of this study allows to formalize the structure of argumentation in the ECHR documents as a context-free grammar. The paper concludes with the evaluation of the grammar and a discussion of its main limitations.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/978-1-58603-952-3-11","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,21]],"date-time":"2025-02-21T10:21:00Z","timestamp":1740133260000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":4,"title":["Study on the Structure of Argumentation in Case Law"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"family":"Mochales Raquel","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"family":"Moens Marie-Francine","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications","Legal Knowledge and Information Systems"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,21]],"date-time":"2025-02-21T10:48:52Z","timestamp":1740134932000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.medra.org\/servlet\/aliasResolver?alias=iospressISSNISBN&issn=0922-6389&volume=189&spage=11"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2008]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/978-1-58603-952-3-11","relation":{},"ISSN":["0922-6389"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0922-6389","type":"print"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2008]]}}}
