In the domain of virtual patients (VP) a central role is played by the MedBiquitous' MVP specification and its application profile proposed by the eViP (Electronic Virtual Patients) project. An important factor in promoting a standard is the use of metrics for assessing the conformity of the resources to the constraints imposed by the specifications. The overall aim of this study was to explore strategies to test for conformance and investigate the capabilities and limitations of automated conformance testing. A four-level scale of conformance of virtual patient packages to the eViP profile is presented, as well as two implementations of conformance testing applications. The developed tools have been tested upon level two on a sample of four VP cases acquired from the eViP repository of virtual patients.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/978-1-60750-044-5-185","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,21]],"date-time":"2025-02-21T15:10:01Z","timestamp":1740150601000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Development and Validation of Strategies to Test for Interoperability of Virtual Patients"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"family":"Kononowicz Andrzej A.","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"family":"Heid Jörn","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"family":"Donkers Jeroen","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"family":"Hege Inga","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"family":"Woodham Luke","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"family":"Zary Nabil","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Studies in Health Technology and Informatics","Medical Informatics in a United and Healthy Europe"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,21]],"date-time":"2025-02-21T16:15:24Z","timestamp":1740154524000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.medra.org\/servlet\/aliasResolver?alias=iospressISSNISBN&issn=0926-9630&volume=150&spage=185"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2009]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/978-1-60750-044-5-185","relation":{},"ISSN":["0926-9630"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0926-9630","type":"print"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2009]]}}}
