Our approach is to develop a model of the situation and use this model to generate arguments for and against the actions that an agent can perform. Actions are then chosen by evaluating this set of arguments according to the subjective preferences and emotional state of the agent concerned. A mechanism to control and balance the extent of emotional effects is also introduced.
