We are using methods of conversation analysis and membership categorization analysis, originally intended for the analysis of coherent spoken dialogues. A source text and its comments can be considered as dialogue acts and commentators turn out to be dialogue participants. Every commentator can react to the source text or to some of the previous comments. A dialogue is formed by occurring a ‘bunch’ of many micro-dialogues. On the other hand, the commentators are categorizing themselves as well as agents of the source text. As a result, an additional structure layer is formed. The coherence of turns is also structured non-linearly.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/978-1-60750-641-6-83","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,20]],"date-time":"2025-02-20T12:06:08Z","timestamp":1740053168000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Internet Commentators as Dialogue Participants: Coherence Achieved through Membership Categorization"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"family":"Hennoste Tiit","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"family":"Gerassimenko Olga","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"family":"Kasterpalu Riina","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"family":"Koit Mare","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"family":"Laanesoo Kirsi","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"family":"Oja Anni","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"family":"Rääbis Andriela","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"family":"Strandson Krista","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications","Human Language Technologies – The Baltic Perspective"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,20]],"date-time":"2025-02-20T12:39:45Z","timestamp":1740055185000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.medra.org\/servlet\/aliasResolver?alias=iospressISSNISBN&issn=0922-6389&volume=219&spage=83"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2010]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/978-1-60750-641-6-83","relation":{},"ISSN":["0922-6389"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0922-6389","type":"print"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2010]]}}}
