In this paper we will discuss the study, design and development of its evolution toward an embedded appliance. Two hardware platforms will be analyzed, considering their pros and cons respect to the target application, based on image processing algorithms and Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs). The comparison will take into account the available computational power, the power consumption, the ease of interfacing with other devices and the overall development cycle.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/978-1-60750-692-8-152","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,20]],"date-time":"2025-02-20T12:06:08Z","timestamp":1740053168000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["A Comparison Study for a Neural Network Based Embedded Appliance"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"family":"Motto Ros Paolo","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications","Neural Nets WIRN10"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,20]],"date-time":"2025-02-20T12:19:07Z","timestamp":1740053947000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.medra.org\/servlet\/aliasResolver?alias=iospressISSNISBN&issn=0922-6389&volume=226&spage=152"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2011]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/978-1-60750-692-8-152","relation":{},"ISSN":["0922-6389"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0922-6389","type":"print"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2011]]}}}
