Information extraction techniques have been developed in this specific domain, to extract structured information from the literature. The National Library of Medicine provides access to 12 million MEDLINE citations, accessible via PubMed. Information retrieval techniques which are used to select documents that are relevant according to user request. As other domains in medicine, biomolecular scientific literature is indexed by MeSH terms. Automatic identification of protein and gene names in scientific articles is an important step in the indexing process, since proteins and genes are often associated with multiple names, and authors alternate between these synonyms. In this article we assess the contribution of specialized terminologies in the field of molecular biology compared to MeSH.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/978-1-60750-949-3-530","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,21]],"date-time":"2025-02-21T14:45:03Z","timestamp":1740149103000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["MeSH and Specialized Terminologies : Coverage in the Field of Molecular Biology"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"family":"Mary Vincent","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"family":"Marquet Gwenaëlle","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"family":"Le Beux Pierre","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Studies in Health Technology and Informatics","MEDINFO 2004"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,21]],"date-time":"2025-02-21T14:48:46Z","timestamp":1740149326000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.medra.org\/servlet\/aliasResolver?alias=iospressISSNISBN&issn=0926-9630&volume=107&spage=530"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2004]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/978-1-60750-949-3-530","relation":{},"ISSN":["0926-9630"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0926-9630","type":"print"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2004]]}}}
