We give three design patterns that model reliable session and transaction management in transactional web applications. These are: session timeout, server default action and split client-server state representation. Only the first design pattern can be successfully implemented with the standard WCF communication facilities available for Silverlight .NET subset. Therefore we include also a simple, robust and WCF compatible communication stack. Surprisingly, overriding the standard WCF facility has resulted in an almost factor 30 performance boost for local calls.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/978-1-60750-992-9-295","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,21]],"date-time":"2025-02-21T10:27:24Z","timestamp":1740133644000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Modeling Reliable Session Management in Multitier Web Applications"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"family":"Kurz Peter","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"family":"Sikorski Andrzej","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications","Information Modelling and Knowledge Bases XXIII"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,21]],"date-time":"2025-02-21T11:26:33Z","timestamp":1740137193000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.medra.org\/servlet\/aliasResolver?alias=iospressISSNISBN&issn=0922-6389&volume=237&spage=295"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2012]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/978-1-60750-992-9-295","relation":{},"ISSN":["0922-6389"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0922-6389","type":"print"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2012]]}}}
