Culture is embodied in how people interact with other individuals and with their environment. It is a way of life formed under specific historical, natural and social conditions. Culture can be considered as one example of context. A computational method, a computer system, or an application is context-sensitive if it includes context-based functions and if it uses context to provide relevant information and services to the user, where relevancy depends on the user's impressions and the situation at hand. Because of globalization, cultural competence together with context sensitive information systems and their development has become an important dimension for success in today's international business and research.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/978-1-60750-992-9-399","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,20]],"date-time":"2025-02-20T12:06:08Z","timestamp":1740053168000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Future Directions of Context Modelling and Cross-Cultural Communication"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"family":"Heimbûrger Anneli","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"family":"Kiyoki Yasushi","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"family":"Jaakkola Hannu","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"family":"Suhardijanto Totok","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications","Information Modelling and Knowledge Bases XXIII"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,20]],"date-time":"2025-02-20T12:07:26Z","timestamp":1740053246000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.medra.org\/servlet\/aliasResolver?alias=iospressISSNISBN&issn=0922-6389&volume=237&spage=399"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2012]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/978-1-60750-992-9-399","relation":{},"ISSN":["0922-6389"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0922-6389","type":"print"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2012]]}}}
