Therefore, if new versions are released frequently and they need to be deployed to many servers, doing the work manually may lead to several problems &amp;mdash; errors due to incorrect deployments, misconfigurations and considerable amount of time spent on routine tasks. This paper is a study of methods used for desktop software versioning in order to apply them to server-side software needs. The main focus was set on server-side software that is based on PHP and Oracle technology, however solutions where sought that could be used for other serverside technologies as well, e.g., ASP.NET, Java and Ruby.
