Therefore, there exists a need of tools and techniques to model complex service systems making the process of value co-creation operational. Agent-Based Modeling and Simulation has been recognized as a powerful technique in studying complex adaptive systems and hence, becomes a potential approach in studying complex value co-creation interactions and emerging properties of service systems. However, the computational representation of the value co-creation process among agents of a complex service system still remains challenging. This paper proposes a candidate method to address this issue based on Kauffman's NKCS theoretical framework that mimics the co-evolution of multiple species in a biological ecosystem. The key aspects of value co-creation have been discussed using a toy example of two agents. Furthermore the extendibility of the method to model complex service systems has also been discussed.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/978-1-61499-254-7-71","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,20]],"date-time":"2025-02-20T12:06:08Z","timestamp":1740053168000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":1,"title":["Modeling Value Co-creation Process in Complex Service Systems Using Kauffman's NKCS Architecture"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"family":"Rajapakse Chathura","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"family":"Terano Takao","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications","Advanced Methods and Technologies for Agent and Multi-Agent Systems"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,20]],"date-time":"2025-02-20T12:38:11Z","timestamp":1740055091000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.medra.org\/servlet\/aliasResolver?alias=iospressISSNISBN&issn=0922-6389&volume=252&spage=71"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2013]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/978-1-61499-254-7-71","relation":{},"ISSN":["0922-6389"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0922-6389","type":"print"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2013]]}}}
